We're Keeping Free Shipping — Even as Oil Hits $100

Let's be blunt about something: shipping anything in North America right now is expensive. WTI crude oil is sitting above $99 a barrel — territory most of us hadn't planned for — and the courier networks have wasted no time responding. Fuel surcharges are up. Carriers have announced rate increases. And the cost of moving a box from our suppliers' warehouses to your door has quietly climbed since January.

When we launched Just Tote Bags two years ago, we had one central conviction: that small and mid-size businesses should be able to buy high-quality custom promotional products without paying the inflated margins that come with the big distributors. We believed we could beat their prices by running lean, staying focused, and treating every client like a real business partner — not a transaction.

When we decided to offer free shipping on all orders over $500 at the beginning of this year, we were making a bet we could absorb that cost and make it up in volume and loyalty. We hadn't anticipated that oil would spike to near $100 US almost immediately. Nobody had a crystal ball. But here's where we land on it: we're still committed to offering free shipping for as long as we can — even if it hurts.

We run lean deliberately, so we have some room to absorb cost volatility in ways the big promotional products distributors frankly do not. They have shareholders to answer to. We have clients — and we think that makes all the difference.

We'll be transparent: we don't know how long we can sustain this. If oil stays at these levels or climbs, we'll eventually have to revisit. But right now the deal stands — any order over $500 ships free.
