Custom Ordering Can Make Sense (And Save You Money)

Sometimes the best deal isn't the standard catalog price.

Take a recent order for wine totes. A customer needed promotional bags similar to our B4250 6-Bottle Wine Tote. Standard pricing with full-color DTF printing would have run them $6.59 per bag. Instead, we set up a custom production run with edge-to-edge full-color branding for under $3 each—less than half the cost.

The catch? They had to order a minimum of 1,000 units. They ordered 3,000.  But here's the thing: they go through that quantity (and more) every year anyway. The minimum wasn't a barrier; it was just smart planning.

Another example: A trade show producer needed custom shopping bags similar to our B4120 Shopper Tote with a rigid bottom. Off-the-shelf with standard full-color printing would have been $5 each. Custom production with edge-to-edge branding came in under $1.50—a 70% savings.

Their quantity? 6,000 bags. And yes, they needed exactly that many.

The Math is Simple

Custom ordering works when two conditions line up:

  1. You need the volume anyway
  2. The savings justify the upfront commitment

If you're ordering promotional products regularly, or if you have a large annual requirement, those minimums stop being obstacles and start being opportunities.
